Lymphatic Massage of The Poconos,
at Clear Mountain Wellness

Your surgeon recommended massage after your Lipo 360, Tummy Tuck, Brazilian Butt Lift, or fat transfer surgery? You’re in the right place!

What do we offer?

Clear Mountain Wellness offers plastic surgery recovery treatment that includes manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), massage, arnica, warm stones, vibration, and cocoa butter. Each treatment is customized based on your surgery and where your body is in the healing process.

The techniques used in MLD are very gentle and quite different from traditional relaxation massages that you may have had at a spa. MLD is minimally invasive and may be helpful in alleviating some of the symptoms often experienced immediately after plastic surgery, including:
- Pulling
- Tenderness
- Itchiness, especially on the sides and back
- Swelling
- Tightness

MLD is NOT “
incisional drainage massage.” Incisional drainage massage is often VERY painful, and may involve the use of unclean tools to re-open incisions. Incisional drainage is often performed by untrained or unlicensed individuals, and may lead to serious complications, such as internal bleeding, additional bruising, cellulitis, or sepsis (an infection that often requires hospitalization and IV antibiotics.)

What is a “Certified Lymphedema Therapist,” and why is THAT important?
The state of Pennsylvania requires a minimum of 600 hours of training as a prerequisite to become a licensed massage therapist in Pennsylvania. Therapists are then required to take continuing education courses in order to maintain their licenses.

A Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) is licensed professional such as a Licensed Massage Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, a Registered Nurse, etc., who has then taken an additional 135 hours of specialized training specifically on the lymphatic system, on top of their base licensure, and has successfully presented a case study in order to be a candidate for certification.

CLTs work with physicians, as well as other healthcare professionals, to help patients better manage pain and swelling. We are also trained in decongestive compression techniques. Yes, massage therapists can perform manual lymphatic drainage, however, CLTs are held to a higher standard.

How many massages do I need?
This is going to vary greatly, depending on your surgeon’s recommendations, how much fluid was moved/removed, how your body is healing, and the type of surgery you have had.

If you have more questions, I invite you to contact Clear Mountain Wellness, so that we can set up some time to chat about your questions.

In the meantime, stay healthy, and I hope to see you soon!
